A man asked the Prophet about the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment) saying, "When will the Hour be?" The Prophet said, "What have you prepared for it?" The man said, "Nothing, except that I love Allah and His Apostle." The Prophet said, "You will be with those whom you love." We had never been so glad as we were on hearing that saying of the Prophet (i.e., "You will be with those whom you love.") Therefore, I love the Prophet, Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and I hope that I will be with them beCause of my love for them though my deeds are not similar to theirs.

A man said to the Prophet (peace be upon him): By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I do love you. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Look, what you are saying? The man said: By Allah, I love you, and repeated this sentence thrice. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you really love me, then be prepared for acute poverty, for extreme hardship rushes more rapidly towards a person who loves me, than a flood flows towards its goal. The Holy Messenger of Allah the Almighty صلي الله عليه و سلم is quoted on the authority of Abu Huraira رضی الله تعلٰی عنه to have said:
“Allah the Almighty says, ‘I am towards My servant as he is towards Me. I am with him when he remembers Me (dhikr). If he remembers Me within himself, I remember him within Myself. If he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than it.’”
